New Members – Benefits of joining Beckenham Tennis Club

Beckenham Tennis Club welcomes new members of all ages and standards and has tennis programmes in place that will suit all prospective new members.

Starter Players

Players with limited or no previous playing experience

Open to non-members – Beckenham Tennis Club organises three professionally run group coaching sessions to teach tennis in a convivial atmosphere that will help prospective new members to get to know other people at the same level of tennis development.

Starter coaching sessions are held on Saturdays at 12.30pm with 1 hour of coaching. The current session runs from 14 January 2012 until 24 March 2012 (with the exception of 18 February), but you can join at any time. There is a small charge for each session, but if you decide to become a member of the club, these charges will be deducted from your membership subscription.

Come down for a free trial session. Simply contact the club manager via the Contacts Us page to let him know that you wish to come for a beginners trial tennis session.

Improver players

Players who have a degree of tennis experience but wish to improve their tennis skills.

This is the next step up from beginners. Coaching sessions run for 1 hour on Saturday afternoons starting at 2.30pm. The course lasts for eight weeks (14 January 2012 to 3 March 2012) but they can be joined at any time.

Club Standard Players

Players of sufficient tennis ability to join in with General Club sessions.

Beckenham Tennis Club holds two organised general club play sessions a week, all year round. These sessions are open to all club members of Club Player standard who wish to join in.

Sessions are held:

• Saturday 2-7pm – with the Head Coach in attendance from 2-4, and a tea break at 4.30.
• Wednesday 7-10pm – Committee member in attendance.

Club standard Players may also put themselves forward for selection for Beckenham Tennis Club sides for Inter Club Matches in the Kent LTA Winter and Summer leagues.

Higher Level Standard Player.

Access to general Club play sessions plus the opportunity to play for one of the Beckenham Tennis Club’s sides playing Inter Club Matches in the Kent LTA Winter and Summer leagues.

• 2 Men’s Vet’s teams
• 2 Ladies Vet’s teams


• Men's Aegon Team Tennis Regional Open

• 6 American tournaments a year held on Saturdays
• Entry to Beckenham Tennis Club Open Knockout Tennis Tournament
• Entry to Beckenham Tennis Club Handicap Knockout Tournament
• Singles Box league - Ladies and Gentlemen.
• Visits to and from overseas clubs
